Perth Day 2 (050409) - in the Perth City

Part II - Shopping and Food, favourites of Singaporean
Having settled our driving licence issues, we made our way down to Harbour Town Shopping Centre at Wellington Street. This is Perth's largest brand direct outlet shopping centres. The outlets sell quality brands at prices below regular retail prices. A lot of sport brands such as Nike, Addias, Fila can be found here, at superb discounts. From what we understand from our friend, this place sells some of the sports designs which you may not find in Singapore. If you are interested to find out more, click onto - http://www.harbourtownperth.com.au/

Plenty of things to see and eat here, enough for you to spend half day shopping around for cheap, affordable items.

Their Turkish fast food outlet. Apparently, there are a lot of such outlets in Perth

Welcome to Fast Eddy, their 24 hrs fast food outlets. Being a fast food lover or rather a junkie, Perth indeed give me a chance, and practically no excuse to have fast food everyday.

Perth Day 2 (050409) - in the Perth City

Part I - On our way to the Car Rental Company

It was a bright, sunny Sunday very different from Singapore (but my dear's mood was not sunny at all). The weather is darn hot but not humid at all, thus throughout our entire trip, we hardly sweat. But being a vain-pot, I insisted on applying sunblock on my superb sensitive face, which half the time, made my dear irritated.

Our 1st task for the morning (keeping our finger cross) was to make our way to the car rental company, in this case, Hertz. We were hoping that they will be kind enough to take pity on us and allow us to rent their car with a scanned copy of the driving licence. Ya, we were naive, but at least if we try, there is a 50% chance of getting it, haha. But.. our luck wasn't that good, they turned us down, even though we tried hard to convince them that we really need the car in order for us to make our trip to Perth fruitful. They are very stringent; to drive around Perth, a driving licence is compulsory.

Sigh...dejected were we...we strolled down the streets, somewhat determined to find another way. We came across a car rental company called Budget. That is our survivor. The woman was kind enough to tell us that we could actually apply for a signed authorisation from our Singapore Traffic Police to verify that we are indeed holding a valid car licence. Marvellous! Yippee!

There comes our another survivor, i.e. dear's good pal. He has kindly agreed to make a trip down to the Traffic Police the next day to help us obtain the authorisation. We were truly grateful to him and finally I can also see my dear SMILE =)

And here we are, finally able to start our 1st journey along Perth City with a peace of mind.

Perth Day 1 (040409) - Arrival in Perth

We reached the airport on sat night, after a long 5 1/2 hrs journey. That was tiring on a Jetstar Airbus A330, with hardly any space to move, to stretch my legs or body. The landing was also pretty bad and we almost thought that it was due to the bad weather.

The 1st thing that caught my dear's eyes when we reached the airport, was CAMERA. His eyes sparkled immediately when he saw cameras at a shop and he was "glued" to it. OMG! But he was fun and cute, adding laughter to my "long', tiring journey.

Their international airport is pretty small as compared to ours. I was surprised that they are still using manual system to scan our passports. For a moment, I felt proud of our well-developed and high-tech system.
We had a slight hiccup...i.e. my dear forgot to bring his driving license! And this meant that we maybe stuck in the City of Perth for one week. What are we going to do here for a week, in a small little town, with hardly any activities after 5pm? We started to panic.

My dear was pretty upset that he forgot about the driving license, bcos he had planned for it to be a wonderful trip for me, I know. Thus, I did not blame him, instead I was thankful that he has made such a great effort to make the trip. So when he reached the hotel, he immediately switched on his laptop to source for help. That was very sweet of him.

Finally, we managed to get his cousin to scan a copy of his driving license, which we intended to try our luck at the car rental company the next day. So for the time being, we managed to have a peaceful night, keeping our finger cross that our luck will be better the next day...
